Joplin Salvation Army Donation Needs

Donations to the Joplin Salvation Army during the summer typically go down, that is why organizers are asking for your help.
JOPLIN, MO.--- Donations to the Joplin Salvation Army during the summer typically go down, that's why organizers are asking for your help. On average, the group serves 300 meals a day to the less fortunate.

The majority of the Salvation Army's donations come in during the holiday season with their Red Kettle Program. Organizers say the donations go down when the temperatures go up. However, the need is always a constant everyday.

"It never does. In the summer, we send children to camp as well. We still do our feeding programs. Nothing slows down with us, stay just as busy," said Ali O'Dell, Salvation Army.

A fundraiser is being held tomorrow at Phoenix Fired Art in Joplin from 11:30 to 1 p.m. People are making bowls to be auctioned off at a future event.
