Joplin Police Department to Get County Radios

The Joplin Police Department will soon have county dispatch radios.
JOPLIN, MO---Jasper County has a different radio system than the City of Joplin. Right now, the county is able to communicate with Joplin's dispatch through radios, but Joplin cannot contact the county using radios.

Joplin Police Chief Jason Burns says it's important to make Joplin have communication with the rest of the county. He says, "Currently we have that communication through patch, a patch that dispatch will put up but I want to get us more on the same lines as communication in the radios."

Chief Burns says in the 2015 budget, the department has requested 12 of the county-style radios to put in the supervisors' cars.
