Joplin Polar Plunge 2014

Fourstaters braved the cold and took the plunge today for a good cause.
JOPLIN, MO---That is the Polar plunge, which was held at Shoal Creek in Joplin. Participants had to raise a minimum of $75 to jump into the cold water. All proceeds benefit the Missouri Special Olympics year-round program. Different groups and companies jumped into the frigid water together.

Emily Olson took part in the plunge with her sorority at Missouri Southern State University, Alpha Sigma Alpha. She says, "I feel great doing it because it is also one of our philanthropy so it's helping out both for our sorority and both for Special Olympics so I just feel good all around for doing it."

The Polar Plunge is held ever year. Various police departments, highway patrols and other law enforcement agencies around the state host the event.
