Joplin Parks and Recreation Host Little Netters Program

Some tiny athletes will soon start lessons that could lead to Wimbledon or the U.S. Open.
JOPLIN, MO.--- The Joplin Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the "Little Netters" program. The weekly lesson is an introduction to tennis to kids ages three to five. Workers say students will learn fundamentals like the right way to hit the ball.

"They get tennis age-appropriate rackets. We don't use the traditional adult tennis balls. They're soft balls - less bounce to them so the kids actually have the chance to hit the ball," said Paul Bloomberg, Joplin Recreational Manager.

The lessons kick off on June 19th. You can get more information from the Joplin Athletic Complex by calling (417) 625-4750.
