Joplin Humane Society Hosts Super Bowl "Tail" Gate Party

A local animal shelter holds their own version of the Super Bowl.
JOPLIN, MO -- A local animal shelter holds their own version of the Super Bowl. The Joplin Humane Society is hosting a pet adoption bowl and tailgate party this weekend. The dogs represent the Broncos and the cats represent the Seahawks. The two are competing to see who can raise the most money for the shelter. Each adoption is worth six points. You can also buy a point for a dollar by donating to the center. Shelter workers say this is a good way to promote animal adoption while raising money for the shelter.

"We think it's a great time, because Super Bowl is definitely family time, you know you gather together your family, and what better time to pick a new pet than when you have the family together," said Shelter Manager Lysa Boston.

If you missed it today, there's still a chance to help the adoption center out. The contest ends tomorrow at 4 PM.
