JOPLIN, MO.--- A program designed to encourage more people to move into Joplin's tornado recovery zone hits a big milestone. The Joplin Homebuyers Assistance Program, or JHAP, has hit the $1 million dollar mark. That's how much is being distributed for down payments and closing costs for home purchases. The program started up last fall and has already seen 38 closings with a total of 105 applications approved.
"It's good to be repopulating the recovery area, moving families into new homes, a lot of first time home buyers are moving into these new homes," said Patrick Clark, Joplin Planning and Commercial Development Specialist.
JHAP provides financial assistance to eligible homebuyers to purchase homes in the tornado recovery zone. Funds are still available. You can learn more by clicking here.
