JOPLIN, MO.--- The City of Joplin has hired a new face as part of the city manager's staff. This is just the second week on the job for Brian Kelly. He'll serve as the assistant to the city manager. That means he'll help research projects and fill other support roles. He graduated with a master's degree in public administration in 2013 and this is his first job in the field.
"There's really a great opportunity here to learn a lot about disaster management and then the recovery effort, and then just a lot of things like that. There's just a lot to do here and it's going to be exciting to be a part of it," said Brian Kelly, Joplin Assistant to the City Manager.
"Help the City Manager's Office to research on projects that the council brings to our attention or staff. You know, if they have issues or projects that are sitting on the shelf that they need help with or don't have time for, our office can lend some support to them as well," said Sam Anselm, Interim Joplin City Manager.
Meanwhile, the search continues to find a new city manager for Joplin. The selection process is expected to take a number of months.
