JOPLIN, MO.--- Teachers and general staff mingled with construction workers as they work toward the September 2nd start date. The construction efforts focused on the gymnasium and getting a temporary certificate of occupancy. Meanwhile, teachers are training on safety and security measures and just getting used to the new floor plan.
"Where everybody knows where they need to be, people getting acclimated to the building so that they know how to give directions in the building, and get to where they need to be as well as furniture moved in, classrooms set up properly. That extra time was very valuable," said Kerry Sachetta, Joplin High School Principal.
That leaves seven days until the high school start date next Tuesday.
