JOPLIN, MO.--- While official totals won't be released for a few days, early estimates show more than 2,200 teens are taking classes at the new building. If that number holds true, it would mark a return to a student population not seen since before the 2011 tornado.
"Our highest enrollment was around 2010 - 2011, at least when the year began. So we feel like we made our way back and we're excited about all the students being here," said Dr. Kerry Sachetta, Joplin High School Principal.
JHS initially lost about 2.5% of total enrollment after the tornado.
