JOPLIN, MO.--- Construction on the facility started last August to help alleviate congestion in the 3,500 square foot building. Crews then added an additional 10,000 square feet with a new rehab gym and 20 private suites for short term rehab patients. The rehabilitation center is owned by Northport Health Services. NHS CEO Norman Estes says the new additions will make the center a more private, confidential care facility for residents.
"It designed to attract patients who historically have just left the hospital and gone home. They could benefit for, from short term rehabilitation and therapys. But there's really not been a facility like this in the community to provide these services, so we're excited about that," said Norman Estes, CEO of NHS Management.
The Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center has room for 110 rehabilitation patients.
