JOPLIN, MO.--- All aboard! Here's your chance to ride Joplin's trolley for free. There's no cost to travel tomorrow in honor of Earth Day. The annual promotion has attracted hundreds of riders in the past. Workers add it's a chance to both highlight environmentally friendly public transportation and introduce the Sunshine Lamp Trolley to new riders.
"We've done it for the last three years. Last year, we had 900 people who took advantage of it. So we're hoping this year will be even bigger. All of our drivers get excited. It's kind of a fun day for them too, just to see how many rides we can do in a day," said Robert Lolley, Joplin Transit Director.
Trolley rides are free for all day Tuesday, April 22nd. Normally riders pay a one dollar fee for the service.
