JOPLIN, MO.--- The Joplin City Council has decided to hire an outside firm to assist in the search for a new city manager. City Attorney Brian Head will team up with Interim City Manager Sam Anselm to pick which firm they will use. Mayor Melodee Colbert-Kean says the process of hiring a new city manager could take up to seven months.
"We have a very capable staff right now that is doing a phenomenal job with keeping our projects moving ahead, keeping joplin moving ahead and we are okay with that right now and we are going to take our time to find the right person for the job," said Melodee Colbert-Kean, Mayor of Joplin.
Interim City Manager Sam Anselm is still a possible candidate for the position of city manager.
