JOPLIN, MO.--- Joplin Schools Superintendent Dr. C.J. Huff announced at a press conference this morning, that the first day of school for JHS will now be on Tuesday, September 2nd. He says the delay is due to new equipment, phones, and security systems in the new school. JHS administrators want to allow teachers more time to get adjusted to those systems before classes begin.
"I really think that the September 2nd date will give us some opportunities to put the bow on a few projects that are going on around here. It'll even be more ready for students that following week and I know our faculty and staff will be ready at that point," said Dr. C.J. Huff, Joplin Schools Superintendent.
Other Joplin schools will start class on Monday, August 25th. The graduation date for JHS seniors will also remain the same regardless of starting one week later.
