JAY, OK.--- A leak was found in the city water line early this morning due to the loss of raw water. Due to low water pressure, roughly 10 businesses, including the Jay School District and the Delaware County Courthouse were closed for the day. The closed businesses helped the Department of Utilities conserve water while working on the line.
"We hope to have repairs done and, Simmons should be able to run tomorrow, schools should be open tomorrow. We really won't know until we've excavated the entire pipe, the entire break and see what we're dealing with," said David Brewster, Jay Water Plant Superintendent.
The Jay Fire Department is currently arranging emergency water supplies, which will be available to the community at the fire department.
