Jasper County Sheriff's Citizen's Academy

Jasper County citizens have a chance to go behind the scenes of the Sheriff's Office.
JASPER COUNTY, MO --- Jasper County citizens have a chance to go behind the scenes of the Sheriff's Office. The Jasper County Sheriff's Office is now offering enrollment in the 8th semi-annual Sheriff's Citizen's Academy. The next session begins February 20th and ends May 27th, with classes held every Thursday from 6:30 to 9:30 P.M. at the Sheriff's Office in Carthage. Students will learn about everything from history and crime scene investigations, to cyber crime.

"It's important that people in the community understand what it is that we do on a day-to-day basis, and to help them understand how their Sheriff's Department works. We establish relationships with people in the community when we do this, and I think that's also important," said Jasper County Sheriff Randee Kaiser.

The Sheriff says they only accept around 15 applicants on a first-come, first-serve basis.
