CARTHAGE, MO.--- Several projects to fix culverts in Jasper County will soon be underway. Today, commissioners awarded a bid for more than $525,000 to FL Whitney Corporation for four projects in the county. One of the projects will be south of Carl Junction on Joplin Street. Three other projects are north of the 43 and 96 roundabout, off of 43 and Maple Road, another one off of Nutmeg Road, and along County Road 227 north of Maverick.
"Whether the culvert is bad or whether, we have drainage issues. They're projects that are needed either for the flow of water or widening of the roads," said Jim Honey, Jasper County Commissioner.
Honey says the work will begin by April. They've asked the company to work on only one or two projects at a time, so not too many roads will be closed at once.
