County level elections won't go any further than the August primary in Jasper County this year, because not a single Democrat filed as a candidate.
CARTHAGE, MO.--- County level elections won't go any further than the August primary in Jasper County this year, because not a single Democrat filed as a candidate. There are six contested races, pitting Republicans against Republicans. In the presiding commissioner race, newcomer James Lessy of Reeds will challenge incumbent John Bartosh of Carthage. Incumbent County Collector Steve Holt of Joplin will face David Crocker of Joplin. The county auditor race includes incumbent Richard Webster Junior of Carthage versus Garrell Dry of Carthage. Three candidates filed to replace the outgoing recorder of deeds. That includes Doris Tatum of Carthage, Charlotte Pickering of Sarcoxie and Ron Hill of Carthage.
