CARTHAGE, MO.--- The Jasper County auditor estimates the budget is on track so far this year. In both January and February, the county received roughly half a million dollars. The county auditor says in January the county was about $50,000 over last year, but in February the county was $55,000 under. That amounts to about $5,000 less than where the county was last year, but close to what they budgeted this year.
"To have a half million both of those months, I think that's good. We have noticed that we'll have one month and it will be way up, the next one may be way down and you hope that the difference offsets to where you have a slight increase," said Richard Webster, Jasper County Auditor.
The county auditor budgeted $6 million for sales tax revenue this year.
