Hedrick Petting Zoo Stops in Pittsburg

This is the 20th anniversary of the Little Balkans Days in Pittsburg and one of the fun events include an exotic petting zoo.
PITTSBURG, KS.--- The Hedrick Petting Zoo features 20 different animals. Those include camels, porcupines and kangaroos. The traveling zoo is based in Knickerson, Kansas and they travel all across the area. Organizers say many of the families never get a chance to see these animals in person, much less pet them.

"Exactly, everybody that comes in here, I hear them say 'wow' right off the bat when they see that kangaroo or some other animals in there that they've never seen, or maybe seen on TV or in a book, and here they are, you know, two feet from them," said Monte McClurg, Hedrick Petting Zoo

If you would like to visit the petting zoo, it's located at 6th and Pine. It's free to the public and will be open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
