GALENA, KS.--- School officials were expecting the construction to be complete by the beginning of school. However, bad weather from this past winter has delayed construction. Work crews are currently putting the finishing touches on the new gym, science classes, and fitness center. The fire marshal is scheduled to survey the structure next Wednesday.
"Construction rarely finishes when you think it probably will. So, we knew that was a possibility. So, we have some teachers that are floating around from different rooms right now to get through the first month here. For the most part, everything is working out pretty well for us," said Brian Smith, Galena Schools Superintendent.
School Superintendent Brian Smith says he expects construction to be complete by the end of September.
