Former Miami Police Officer Receives Three Year Deferred Sentence

A former Miami police officer enters a plea and is sentenced for lying to a state grand jury in connection to the beating of a suspect.
MIAMI, OK.--- Teresa Lashmet, 37, pleaded no contest to two counts of outraging public decency and engaging in a pattern of criminal offenses. She received a three year deferred sentence. On May 14th of last year, Lashmet and two other officers were accused of using excessive force on Jerry Dean Payne Junior during a traffic stop.

Dashcam video captured the incident. Payne was arrested on complaints of driving under the influence and obstructing an officer. The charges were dropped in October. A lawsuit was filed earlier this year by Payne against the three officers.
