PITTSBURG, KS.--- Phil Ruffin is a Kansas native and owns Treasure Island Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. He's teaming up with Downstream Casino to look at the possibility of entering a bid to reopen Camptown Greyhound Park. The park is located north of Pittsburg on Highway 69 and has been vacant for eight years.
The partnership believes Camptown has a jump on the development process because substantial amount of infrastructure is already in place. The group has not entered a formal bid at this time. In July, Kansas lawmakers reduced the investment cost for prospective casino developers from $225 million to $50 million.
This only applies to the southeast gaming zone, which includes Crawford and Cherokee counties.
