JOPLIN, MO.--- Finishing touches are being made to a local assisted living community. Workers broke ground on the Communities of Wildwood a little more than a year ago and now, the facility is just weeks away from opening its doors. It's located at 3222 South John Duffy Drive in Joplin. The assisted living community has 128 rooms, nutrition centers, and offers outpatient therapy. Officials say they want to give people a place to live where they can feel at home.
"We just want to give them as many freedoms, just like they would have at home. They're going to decide at home what they want. We want them to decide here what they want," said Tracy Rowe, Communities of Wildwood.
Two residents will move in on March 10th and workers say they hope to have all rooms open shortly after, when the facility is verified by the state.
