Columbus Back to School Carnival

Columbus Back to School Carnival

The Columbus School District holds a back-to-school carnival.
COLUMBUS, KS.--- Students, parents and school staff gathered at the Columbus City Park Tuesday night for the annual event. This is the sixth year the school has held the carnival. It's open to kids in Pre-K through 6th grade. Everything is free, including hot dogs, chips and snow cones. There was also inflatables and booths from local businesses. Columbus kids have only been in school for two weeks and administrators hope this helps setup a good year.

"Just tell the kids we appreciate you, we appreciate our families here in Columbus and the surrounding area. And if there's something we can do to help your kids this year, we're here for that reason. Just a great way to welcome everyone back for a new year," said David Carringer, Columbus Schools Superintendent.

Carringer says the event started off small six years ago and has grown every year since, with more businesses getting involved.
