CARTHAGE, MO.--- Carthage school leaders plan to build a new facility for special education students. District leaders are in the bidding process to construct an early childhood special education center. The district currently leases space from Fairview Christian Church for their special education classes. Federal government money and grants from local foundations will fully fund the facility. The center will be built on property that the district owns on Fairview Avenue.
"The way we can combine our forces, combine our staff to put the kids together will be a great benefit to them and our district," said Dr. Mark Baker, Assistant Superintendent for Business.
The Carthage Board of Directors will vote to approve a contract on the project at their next board meeting.
