CARTHAGE, MO.--- An upgraded interchange could be in the future through the proposed state transportation tax on the ballot this August. While the specific list of road projects hasn't yet been released, it could include improvements to Highway 171 from Carthage to Webb City.
"We expect the list to go to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission in later June, I believe it's June 25th. And they will ultimately approve the list that the voters will vote on," said Dan Salisbury, MoDOT Asst. District Engineer.
The Missouri Department of Transportation is expected to release a preliminary list of sales tax projects for Southwest Missouri tomorrow. Once finalized at the state level, it will be up to voters to decide whether to approve the three-quarter cent tax.
