CARTHAGE, MO.--- The Carthage Police Department is posting pictures of accidents caused by inattentive driving on their Facebook page. The police chief says that's their leading cause of accidents right now. He hopes people will see the photos and think twice before they do the same thing.
"It's getting the community involved themselves, so that they say, 'hey look, I just saw a picture of an accident right there yesterday. I'm going to be careful when I am going through that intersection.' That's the kind of reaction we're hoping for," said Greg Dagnan, Carthage Police Chief.
There are typically 200 accidents a year in Carthage. The department's goal is to be proactive and keep that number below 190 this year.
