Carthage Humane Society Needs

The Carthage Humane Society is currently at full capacity and in need of supplies.
CARTHAGE, MO.--- It's safe to say Kennel Tech Jeff Strahley is busy during his days at the Carthage Humane Society.

"I'm responsible for vaccinations, for puppies boosters and for adult dogs all of their current vaccinations," said Jeff Strahley, Kennel Tech.

Transport Coordinator Amber Kenagy says with the shelter currently at capacity, it's not likely Strahley's work load will get lighter.

"During the summer, we're normally always at capacity," said Amber Kenagy, Transport Coordinator.

Along with more work, a higher number of animals means the shelter needs plenty of items on a daily basis. Donations of items like dog food and cleaning supplies and even cash are always welcome at the Carthage Humane Society, but if you aren't able to do that, there are plenty of other ways to help.

"Volunteer to walk dogs. Come out, spend a couple of hours, walk some dogs around the yard and play with them," said Strahley.

Strahley says it's heartbreaking to see so many kind animals in need of a home.

"That's our goal here, to get them all homes. That's what we're all about," said Strahley.

You can also help by sponsoring a dog for $60, that money will help take care of costs for the animal. The Carthage Humane Society is located at 13860 Dog Kennel Lane, just north of the Cedar Road exit off I-49.
