Carthage Humane Society Dog Adoption Partnership

The Lansing Correctional Facility in Kansas adopted 11 dogs from the Carthage Humane Society as part of a partnership to train and socialize the animals.
CARTHAGE, MO.--- Representatives with the Lansing Correctional Facility in Kansas adopted 11 dogs yesterday from the Carthage Humane Society. It's part of a partnership with the prison and the Humane Society that began 3 months ago.

Representatives come once a month and adopt dogs to take back to Lansing prisoners to train and socialize the animals, then they are adopted out.

"I think it's something that can really benefit more than one way. It benefits people and it benefits the animals," said Amber Kenagy, Transport Coordinator.

The coordinator says so far, more than 40 dogs have been adopted through the program.
