Carthage Assistant Superintendent Announces Retirement

An assistant superintendent who made an impact on English language learning in Carthage schools is retiring.
CARTHAGE, MO.--- Debora Swarens is the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction for the Carthage School District. Her career spans more than 33 years at school districts in Jasper, Monett, and Carthage. Swarens spent the last six years in the Carthage School District. One of the things she is most proud of is her work with the English language learning program.

"The bottom line, if you're in a district working with English language learners, that strategies that we use for those students are good for all of our students," said Deborah Swarens, Assistant Superintendent For Instruction.

She is retiring from the position in two days. Candy Fraizer, who was the Carthage High School Principal, will take over Swaren's position.
