CARL JUNCTION, MO.--- The school district purchased more than 1,000 ThinkPad Chromebooks. Each high school student will receive one for school and home use. The district got the Chromebooks through a lease purchase for $400,000. Parents pay $50 to cover the insurance. The assistant superintendent says students need to know how to communicate and research using technology.
"We've asked teachers to change their mode of instruction so that the laptops can be used as learning tools rather than just good accessories to have around," said Dr. Kathy Tackett, Assistant Superintendent.
Students will get them before the school year starts.
