JOPLIN, MO.--- The Candy House Chocolate Factory in downtown Joplin held its first ever 'Eat Your Art Out' event as part of Joplin's Third Thursday. This event was open to all ages and featured several activities on how to make creative treats. Co-Owner Terry Hicklin says because Third Thursday has various art walks, they wanted to invite people to make their own candy art. Hicklin also says family fun activities are great for the community and helps business grow.
"The events is what driving, you know, people to come out. Their looking for something, you know, that they can do as a family or participate in. And so we wanted to try an event and it looks like it's working," said Terry Hicklin, The Chocolate Factory co-owner.
"We made gummy shish kabobs and we dipped rice krispy treats in chocolate and pretzels, marshmallows and Oreos," said Aria Sayles, 10-years-old.
Hicklin says they will host more events with different themes for the next Third Thursday's through October.
