MIAMI, OK.--- Bright Futures Miami is the newest affiliate of Bright Futures USA that originated in Joplin. Miami is the first city in Oklahoma to have a Bright Futures program. The program's board had their first meeting earlier today and discussed the goals for the organization.
"The goal is to meet every basic need for every child in the school system. Because it's known that if their basic needs are met, their education process is enhanced," said Mary Booth, Bright Futures Miami Co-Coordinator.
Bright Futures Miami is joining with many businesses, human service agencies, faith-based organizations and parent groups to meet student's basic needs within 24 hours. The needs can be anything from food and clothing to mentoring.
