PITTSBURG, KS.--- An international government program has foreign students traveling to study at Pittsburg State University. The Brazil Scientific Mobility Program provides scholarships to Brazilian students to study abroad. This is an effort to try and produce more graduates in high demand fields of work. A PSU director says most of the students come with little to no English skills, and they go through an intense language program.
"They can learn better English skills. Learning those English skills will help them in their study, and it will also help them in their lives. It's great for them to get another experience," said Christine Mekkaoui, PSU English Program Director.
Mekkaoui says STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields of study.
