WEBB CITY, MO.--- Some area kindergartners now have green thumbs. Students in Webb City helped plant potatoes in the Kids Community Garden. The students learned the basics of gardening and how to plant vegetables. Organizers say teaching the kids about healthy foods also makes them want to eat healthy. However, the kids also learned a lesson in patience and that it takes time for food to grow.
"You really don't want to wait, but you still have to wait, but you don't want too," said Ethan Baker, 5-Years-Old.
Once grown, the vegetables will be given to the children's families. If there is any left over, it will be donated to area shelters.
