JOPLIN, MO.--- This week is Volunteer Week and here's a reminder that not all volunteers are the same. Jordi the labra-doodle is a volunteer at Freeman Health System in Joplin. She visits dozens of patients a month as studies have shown pet therapy can help heal people. Visits from Jordi can often lower blood pressure and stress levels. Her owner is Sue Hicks who says she has seen the healing first hand.
"She has this personality and she looks at you and you feel so much better, so much better," said Sue Hicks, Jordi the Labra-doodle.
There are currently 300 volunteers at Freeman Health System and they give 60,000 hours annually.
