Brad's Beat: Thank A Million Teachers Program

A well-loved Joplin teacher is honored at his school for his dedication in the classroom and his work after the 2011 tornado.
JOPLIN, MO.--- A well-loved Joplin teacher is honored at his school for his dedication in the classroom and his work after the 2011 tornado. Kalan Hubbard has taught sixth grade math for the past six years at Joplin's North Middle School. Farmers Insurance recognized him for it's "Thank A Million Teachers" program today. Hubbard was recognized by the company because of how he helped setup a central hub at the school right after the tornado. He also worked long hours making phone calls checking to see if the students in the district were alive after the devastation.

"It's a great feeling knowing that they saw it and recognized it, and knowing they could have nominated a number of any other teachers," said Kalan Hubbard, North Middle School Teacher.

The school also received a $2,500 check from Farmers Insurance to use for school supplies.
