CARTHAGE, MO.--- The Carthage Salvation Army held its annual school supply distribution. Students received backpacks, pencils, paper and all the essentials. The items were donated by members of the community. 100 students were helped and organizers say that is on track to the numbers from last year.
"Sometimes we take for granted being able to buy school supplies for our kids, but sometimes parents can't do that. And as a child, you don't want to show up to school with nothing. So I'm glad the Salvation Army is able to help these kids get a fresh start for school," said Lt. Julie Trapp, Carthage Salvation Army.
The first day of school in Carthage is this Thursday.
