CARTHAGE, MO.--- An area veteran is recovering from his post traumatic stress disorder, thanks to the help of a four legged friend and a generous doctor. Richard Bryant and his dog Marley have undergone training to help with PTSD. The dog had completed two of the three courses, but Richard was short of money to complete the last one.
Dr. David Tonkin works at Mercy Mccune Brooks Hospital in Carthage and got word of his patients need. He stepped up and paid for the last class. Bryant was an Army medic in the Gulf War and he says the dog just calms him down and lowers his blood pressure. Marly the dog is now certified and ready to help with the healing.
