JOPLIN, MO.--- The Joplin Independent Living Center hosted it's ninth annual picnic celebration. Nurses and caregivers celebrated helping their clients live a normal life in their homes. More than 600 clients are helped every year with basic needs like shopping, checking on their vital signs and also just having a friend.
"They'd be in a home, they'd be in nursing homes. They wouldn't be able to live by themselves, you know, independently. They rely on us to help them with their medications, and if we didn't do that, they would be where they don't want to be," said Jacquelyne Kendall, L.P.N
Singer Duke Mason was on hand to serenade the group at the center.
