JOPLIN, MO.--- A well known sandwich spokesman makes a stop in Joplin. Jared Fogle from Subway restaurants visited Eastmoreland Elementary School. He exercised with the kids and told them his story of eating healthy. Jared once weighed 425 pounds, and by eating Subway everyday, he eventually lost 245 pounds in one year.
He is encouraging kids to sign up for the Subway Fresh Start Challenge. They can track what they eat and how much they exercise for two weeks. The kids will then mail in their reports to win sandwiches. Also, one student from Joplin will win a thousand dollars for exercise equipment for their school.
"My eating habits started in the fourth grade and is really important. Research shows if we can get these kids on a healthier track now, there is a 80% chance of not having obese adults," said Jared Fogle, Subway Restaurant.
The winning Joplin school will be announced in a few months.
