Brad's Beat: Exercise While at Work

It's recommended to exercise 5 to 6 times a week for 45 minutes a day.
JOPLIN, MO.--- If you have a job that requires you to sit for long periods of time, you may want to try a new exercise routine. Kris Drake and Casey Himmelsback work at Freeman Health System in Joplin. They have been trying a new online exercise routine that they can do at their desks. The routines are fun with interesting names like the Hallelujah and the Incredible Hulk. Doctors say it's dangerous to sit for long periods of time. It increases your risk for heart disease and diabetes.

"Getting up and being active helps reset your brain a little bit. If you sit at the desk for too long, not only is your body getting stiff, but your brain is getting tired too," said Casey Himmelsback, Freeman Health System.

It's recommended to exercise 5 to 6 times a week for 45 minutes a day.
