Brad's Beat Comfort Dogs

There are more than 70 healing and comfort dogs across the county that work with Immanuel Lutheran Church in Joplin.
JOPLIN, MO,--- Two area dogs are changing lives one paw at a time. Louie and Jackson are both Golden Retriever Comfort Dogs. They are with the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Joplin. Their job is to comfort people and put them at ease.

They visited the Silver Creek Assisted Living Center in Joplin. Along with visiting seniors, they also helped people after the Joplin tornado and even traveled to Sandy Hook after the school shooting. The dog handlers say people just open up to the animals.

"After the tornado, people were in shock. The dogs let people smile, to maybe forget about their troubles for a little bit, release any tension for a little while," said Jason Glaskey, Comfort Dog Owner.

There are more than 70 healing dogs across the country that work with the church. Several are now in Boston to help people after the recent tragedy. To learn more about the program, click here. To follow Jackson on Facebook, click here. To follow Louie on Facebook, click here.
