GALENA, KS.--- Dries bessels is part of the Route 66 touring group called the Mad Dutchmen. He was given a replica of the "Cars on the Route" building in Galena. The Dutch artist studied hundred of pictures to recreate the building. His art is in dozens of well known Route 66 attractions along the Mother Road. Owners of the shop say it's an honor to receive such a special piece.
"It's an honor, I mean these things are so cool they're all over museums and stuff like this, it's an honor to receive this. Being such a new business, only eight years old and all the other buildings he's done have been on the Route 66 for eons and eons," said Melba Rigg, Cars on the Route.
The group plans on reaching Los Angeles next week to complete their tour.
