CARL JUNCTION, MO.--- Some library books in Carl Junction have now gone to the dogs. Chevelle Kidd has turned a dog house into a little free library, making it the second one in Carl Junction. Organizers say the little libraries are essential since the city does not have a public library for residents, and people usually have to pay fees to visit an out-of-town library. Vicki Mays built the first little free library and says it's something the Carl Junction community needed.
"Our kids have great library in the schools, but the rest of us, we dont' have access to books. We have to pay to go to the public libraries in Joplin," said Vicki Mays, Little Free Library.
A third little library is expected to be built this summer.
