JOPLIN, MO.--- The Arvest Consumer Sentiment Survey looks at how consumers in the Four States feel about the economy. It found that people in Missouri are more pessimistic about the economy compared to those in Oklahoma. Yet residents in both states are more confident about the economy compared to those in Arkansas. All three were below the national consumer index. Analysts say the survey is an important tool for businesses and employers.
"For example, if you run a car dealership and you're trying to decide how many cars you want to order for your lot for the year. If consumer sentiment is trending down, then maybe you order fewer cars," said Dr. David Mitchell, Director of Bureau of Economic Research at MSU.
Arvest will track the results again later this year. If you would like a copy of the summary, click here.
