Amendment 7 Road Work Proposals in Missouri

If Missouri voters approve a .75% sales tax in August, there could be some big changes in Southwest Missouri.
MISSOURI--- Amendment 7 proposes $4.8 billion worth of work statewide. This would include sidewalk improvements in Liberal, resurfacing Route 43 to Highway 160. Sidewalk and curb improvements in El Dorado. Repairs to a bridge over Stockton Lake. In Newton County they plan to improve sidewalks in Stella and resurface almost 20 roads. In Jasper County, improved sidewalks from schifferdecker to Range Line Road in Joplin. 

The addition of a passing lane on 171 from Kansas to fir Road in Carl Junction. The resurfacing of over a dozen roads and the replacement of the bridge over Spring River in Carthage. The largest part of Amendment 7 would include a high speed directional interchange in Carthage. This would connect Highway 249 with Interstate 49 without forcing motorist to stop at a light. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission will host a public meeting tomorrow from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce.
