JOPLIN, MO.--- An informational meeting hopes to clear up some of the confusion associated with the Affordable Care Act. The University of Missouri Extension along with Freeman Health System and Mercy Hospital teamed up to help individuals and businesses get a better understanding of how the Affordable Care Act affects them. The event was held on the Missouri Southern campus and organizers say they hope community members got their questions answered.
"This is new for us as a country, we haven't had this kind of option before. There are people who find health insurance unaffordable and to expensive and this law applies to all of us, whether or not we're in the marketplace," said Kathy Macomber, Community Development Specialist.
"The most confusing thing is that it's all confusing, there is very little that is plainly spelled out at this point," said Virginia Hogan, Attendee.
Macomber says they plan to have several other informational events around Southwest Missouri during the month of November. If you have questions about the Affordable Care Act, KSN is opening the phone lines on the evening of November 6th from 7 to 9 p.m. We'll have experts standing by to help answer your questions.
