40th Annual Four State Farm Show

40th Annual Four State Farm Show

Southeast Kansas welcomes its 40th Annual Four State Farm Show.
PITTSBURG, KS.--- "40 years ago, it is actually a fraction of the size it is now. We had about 70 booths. This year, there's 700 booths, so it has grown immensely over the years," said Lance Markley, Farm Show Coordinator.

Size isn't the only reason why people in the Four States should be excited for the farm show. The technology has rapidly advanced over the last 40 years. The farm show has a number of demonstrations and new products to share.

"Hay demonstrations this year would include mowers, mower conditioners, rakes, balers, anything that's used to bale a small square, or big round bales of hay is showcased here at the show," said Markley.

S&H Farm Supply has been apart of the show since the beginning and owners are expecting this 40th year to be the best.

"I would say the attendance is up and the interest is up. We've had good weather and the economy is good in a lot of the farm sector. So there are people looking to buy a new tractor or lawn mower," said Eric Schnelle, Owner of S&H Farm Supply.

Farmers and suppliers aren't the only businesses that benefit. Thousands of people flood the area from the Four States and beyond, spending money in near-by cities.

"I know they all have to go eat somewhere at night, so they're in all the local restaurants. So that's just good for the whole economy. And I know a lot of the wives come and shop in town during the day when a lot of the farmers are at the show. So, it's a great overall economic benefit to Pittsburg and the surrounding area," said Markley.

The farm show is located just south of Pittsburg a half mile east of highways 400 and 69. The show will continue tomorrow from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and finish on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
