GOLDEN CITY, MO.--- This is the 133rd year Harvest Days has taken place in Golden City. From food and contests to live music, arts, and lots of children activities.
"There's going to be balloon animals, there's going be tattoos, fake tattoos not real ones. They get to play several different little games that are easy for two-year-olds and up," said Amy Willhite, Barton County Chamber Event Coordinator.
So event organizers added a section called "Kids Midway Magic Under the Big Top."
"There's a wrist band that's five dollars and it will cover pony rides, it'll cover a bounce house, games under the big top and lazer tag. So that's a very affordable price for a big family," said Willhite.
There is one traditional activity that'll take place again this year.
"We're at the United Methodist Church in Golden City, Missouri and we have a quilt show and there's 48 entries," said Beverly Bushnell, quilt contest volunteer.
The quilt contest has been around for more than 20 years, but this year more people participated.
"Many hours go into a lot of them and especially when they did it by hand. All the tiny, tiny stitches, and it's quite an art," said Bushnell.
It's just one of the events where the winner's fate is in your hands. Organizers say it's hard to believe this small town can host this big event, but they view it just as a family reunion.
"You're essentially coming to a big BBQ in Golden City's backyard. It's really just about spending time with your family and making memories with your family," said Willhite.
